Crowns & Bridges Melbourne

A tooth that's cracked, ground down or carrying an oversized old filling only gets weaker with time — and a small gap puts extra load on everything around it. Porcelain crowns and bridges rebuild that strength, blended so faithfully to your own teeth that hardly anyone picks the difference.

Two restorations

A cap for the damaged. A span for the missing.

Crowns and bridges do related but distinct jobs. A crown wraps a compromised tooth entirely in custom porcelain, shielding a tooth that's cracked, root-treated or heavily filled from breaking down further while giving back its original contour and shade. A bridge takes the same craftsmanship and spans a gap, anchored by crowns on the neighbouring teeth — or on implants.

Every restoration begins as a precise intraoral scan — no trays of impression material — and is finished to echo the translucency and tone of the teeth beside it. Crowns and bridges are also the final form every implant takes, which is why restorative craft underpins the whole of our practice.

Situations these restorations solve

  • A crack or fracture capped before it can travel below the gumline.
  • Teeth after root canal treatment, which turn brittle and rely on full-coverage protection.
  • Ageing, oversized fillings swapped for a restoration that's stronger and far better looking.
  • Teeth worn flat or eroded returned to their proper height and working function.
  • Gaps of one to three teeth spanned by a bridge — carried by natural teeth or by implants.

01

Assessment and scanning

We examine the tooth, capture a digital scan, and walk you through the options, material choices and an itemised quote in plain terms.

02

Shaping and a temporary

The tooth is precisely prepared and a well-made temporary crown or bridge protects it while the final piece is being produced.

03

Crafted to blend in

Shape, shade and translucency are all tuned to the teeth around the restoration, so nothing looks out of place.

04

Try-in and bonding

We seat the restoration, refine the bite until it feels right, then bond it permanently in position.

05

Keeping it healthy

Routine check-ups look after both the restoration and the natural tooth underneath for years to come.

Asked often

Crowns & bridges, question by question.

What's the typical lifespan of a crown?
With good care, a well-crafted porcelain crown routinely serves 10–15 years and often longer. What matters most is your bite, any grinding habit and your hygiene — and we factor all three into the design.
How do I decide between a crown, a bridge and an implant?
It starts with whether the tooth is still there. A damaged tooth that remains calls for a crown. Where the tooth is gone, an implant spares the neighbouring teeth from being cut, while a bridge may prove the quicker route when an implant isn't suitable. At your consultation we weigh each option frankly against your case.
Will people be able to tell it's not a real tooth?
Very unlikely — today's porcelain is built up in layers that behave like natural enamel, and every restoration is shade-matched against the teeth around it.
Is having a crown fitted uncomfortable?
Not in our experience — the tooth is completely numbed before preparation, and patients typically compare the appointment to having a large filling done.
